What Causes Weight Gain Despite A Normal Thyroid Report?
Hi, I am 54 healthy and in perimenopause I believe (no period since May but no other symptoms). I have suddenly (like in 2 months) gained about 12 pounds without doing anything differently. I have scheduled to have a blood panel next week to check my hormones , check my glucose, etc (would this be pre diabetic - who isn t these days- or diabeties?) I am going to check my thyroid as well although when I had all of these checked a year ago I was all good and my numbers were amazing (good genes maybe.) But I went from about 140 to 152 seemingly overnight and just wondering...what would cause this? Thanks!
Weight gain after the third decade particularly in the female is pretty common. Most of the time it is genetically related and hormone changes related, but it may not be due to any obvious disease but obesity could cause the endocrine dysfunction (may cause diabetes). If you are overweighted, then you can rule out the certain illness that happens due to obesity, but it is not the case that this disease it causes could cause obesity, if you are overweight, then it may cause the early menopause but menopause may not cause the obesity.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
