What Causes Weight Gain And Swelling In The Ankles?

I have taken Omeprazole ZA 10- 20mg for a long time. Made by Zydus - not too much problem. Some weight gain and and swelling in my ankles. But this prescription they filled with Prilosec from Mylan. I can t breathe and I have some vertigo and so much gas and belching. Never had this before. Is this a possible side effect of this medication.

Hi,

You seem to have GERD. So we're given Prilosec to control that. Constipation with Excessive belching & bloating are known side effects of the drug. Still, O would advise excluding H pylori infection as a basic cause please consult a gastroenterologist.

And Weight gain needs to be investigated for. It can be diabetes, low thyroid levels or familial in origin.

Weight gain must be controlled to avoid lot many problems. Even ankle swelling can follow weight gain if there is no accompanied pain in joint.
