What Causes Watery Stools And Nausea?

About 2 days ago, I ate some spinach dip that I brought from the grocery store. I made a dumb decision of microwaving the spinach dip prior to eating it. Needless to say, at 5:30 a.m. the next morning, I was having S/S of watery stool and nausea. I had to make myself vomit to feel somewhat better. After 24 hrs. had gone by, I began to feel a much better. However, I am still having the watery stool. Should I be concern? or is the watery stool a sign of my body still trying to fight off the infection?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
You are most probably suffering from acute gastroenteritis. It may have been from the undercooked food that you took and bacteria which entered your gut. If you had watery stools for 24 hours, it is better you consult a doctor. There is a chance of dehydration to your body through all the water lost as diarrhea and vomiting. Drink plenty of fluids and ORS solution to keep yourself dehydrated. You might need antibiotics if the infection is severe. So I recommend you to consult a doctor if your symptoms persist or worsen. Good day. Take care.
