What Causes Watery Blister Beside The Incision Site On Shin?

My husband fell off the roof of our house 5 weeks ago. He cut his right shin, right knee cap ( all the skin was gone) and a severe laceration ( to the bone) just below the shin. He received 18 stitches in the ER that night. After walking for about 1 hour yesterday he noticed a dime sized water blister just above the major incision. Where did that come from and should he make an appointment to get it seen about? He is healing very well now otherwise.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
From history it seems that there might be having some injury on periosteum of shin bone at the time of injury and now it can be peri-osteum reaction.
There can be chance of infection in shin bone called oateomyelitiss.
Go for x-ray shin bone to rule out osteomyelitis.
Ok and take care.
