What Causes Watering Eyes Especially At Night?

I woke up in the middle of the night and my eyes were just pouring tears and I got up to look in the mirror and they were very red. They didn t hurt, but no matter how much I wiped them they just kept tearing, like I was crying. This happened once about 3 months ago, also at night. Why is this happening?

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have watering eyes especially at night . Well there can be many reasons for symptoms you mention in query like environmental factors , common cold , sinus problems , allergies , blepharitis , trichiasis or conjunctivitis. I would suggest you to wash your eyes with cold water several times a day , wear eyeglasses to protect your eyes from dust , take over the counter antihistamine like benadryl and avoid applying any cosmetic product on your face except petroleum jelly. Consult ophthalmologist for proper checkup and treatment . Doctor may prescribe antibiotics , anti inflammatory or anti allergic . Doctor may also refer you to ENT specialist for problem like sinusitis .
