What Causes Vomiting While Suffering From Dehydration?

My mom has just been hospitalized. About 2 weeks ago she was hospitalized and diagnosed with dehydration. She seemed to get better, and now she is throwing up. She was diagnosed with Wegener s Granulamatosis four years ago. She is dehydrated again, so they have her on IV fluids and are conducting a kidney test tonight. Could this be a Wegener s flare up? Any other ideas of what it could be? She has no appetite, hurts all over especially her eyes.

Hi
Thanks for posting on HCM
Dehydration goes along with electrolytes imbalances and may have as symptoms vomiting or even be caused by vomiting.Wegener's Granulomatosis may not directly cause dehydration.Possible causes of severe dehydration may include:Diarrhea, vomiting, Fever, Excessive sweating, Increased urination, chronic illnesses.
Tests that may help identify the cause of her problem and evaluate the degreee of dehydration may include: serum electrolytes, kidney function tests, Urinalysis, full blood count, ESR and others depending on associated symptoms.
I will advise:
-Continue with IV fluid
-Place her on an anti-emetic like vogalene
-Electrolytes losses may be corrected based on the results of tests.
Hope this will help
Wish your mom good a speedy recovery
