My 9 year old is on amoxiclilin clavul p 400-57 mg 5ml twice a day, he just had his first dosage taken with a little bit of food right after, he s had amoxicillin before but this time he threw up. I m not sure if it s just his nerves because he s scared of his ear infection or it s the medication. He doesn t have a fever.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi, I had gone through your question and understand your concerns.
Amoxicillin is known to be irritative for stomach and digestion in general so nausea and vomiting is common side effect of it especially in children. It is important that child doesnt have any allergic reactions such as redness, breathing difficulties or rash with dizziness. If not, then he should take amoxicilin with food, drink more fluids, have yoghurt or probiotics along with antibiotic and finish antibiotic course. I am sure that it will be fine on these measures. if this become unstoppable vomiting then he should see doctor or discontinue antibiotic.
Do write back to me for any further clarifications, I am always available to help. Best wishes.
