Dear ma'm, type 1 diabetes, needs to be very well controlled. he must be on 4 insulins a day, take a lot of water, and check his sugars 4 times a day. if he can afford he should be on insulin pump. any infection would make the sugars go high, so during infection he must check his sugars more frequently. now that he has developed ketoacidosis, hospitalization will bring him back to normal state. after discharge you must take care of his diet, life style and treatment. you can stay connected with me. regards!
