What Causes Vomiting After Eating, Weight Loss And Watery Stools?

My sister is 56 years old, she has been vomiting about 45 min after eating, lost 32 lbs in past 2 months, watery stools, went to hospital ER and sent her home with dx belimia . She has no medical insurance and not sure what to do for her. The Dr. requested that she have a EGD and colonoscopy but cost 1500.00 dollars. What should we do.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

Watery stools are not in keeping with bulimia. That condition is associated with induced vomiting.

If she is having persistent diarrhea along with the vomiting then she needs to consider the causes for this as well eg irritable bowel syndrome, food intolerance, side effect of medication, thyroid disease, diabetes, inflammatory bowel disease or infection

She should consider a food diary to see if there is any link with any particular foods or ingredients.

Start with simple less costly bloods like complete blood count, thyroid function test, diabetes screen

I hope this helps
