What Causes Vomiting After Consuming Whole Milk?

Our 1 year old has been on whole milk for just over a week. Tonight she has vomited 3 times. The only change was she tried cottage cheese last night. Could it have been too much dairy for her combined with the banana & whole milk? (Background, she was born with an Ompholocele)

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,
Its possible that too much dairy products can cause vomiting as the enzyme required for digesting milk products called lactase can be limited in children.
In the absence of fever, repeated vomiting or other concerning symptoms you can monitor her with increased fluid (water, mild juice like lime juice with a pinch of salt) to prevent dehydration and a very light diet.
If she develops fever or dehydration symptoms its advisable to consult with PCP to eliminate other causes such as infectins or lactose intolerance.
