What Causes Vertigo While On Xanax?

When I turn my head to the side, or back....it feels like fluid is in there rolling around. I have had my ears checked in Southampton hospital and all is good. I thought it might be .25mg of xanax for years I have taken at night so I stopoed that then I thiught it might be too much wine and champagne over the years. It cause me to reel like I have vertigo...but it is a feeling of liquid like a balast on a sailing vessel.

Addiction Medicine Specialist 's  Response
Hello,

Ear issues can cause vertigo by giving different signals to the brain about head position than the eyes.

This is often caused by degeneration of the bones inside the inner ear and is related to age.

While it can occur from medications that change the firing of nerves, brain slowers like xanax are generallyy used to treat this condition rather than a cause of it.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
