What Causes Vertigo When Suffering From Sinus Problems?
HI. I am 61 years old and have always had bad sinus problems, even as a small child. Last night I had a terrible spell of vertigo. The room was spinnin and I could actually feel a nystagmus because I couldn t focus. I always have a lot of stuffiness and a deviated septum. I have a headache over my eyes and when I rub my eyes I feel squishiness. The spell only lasted for about 5 minutes. but my heart rate seemed to go up unless it was because I was freaking out. I hope it was from sinus and not some kind of mini stroke. I didn t know if I should go to the hospital or not. Scared it will happen again. I d appreciate what you can tell me. Thank you Barbara
Hi, thanks for your query. As per your history , it looks like vestibular migraine. Sinus problems do not cause so much of giddiness. If I were your treating doctor, I would have prescribed labyrinthine sedatives like cinnarizine 25 to 50 mg. + beta blocker tablets . If symptoms persists, then please consult with your doctor and get evaluated. Hope my answers have helped you. Thanks.
