General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Vaginal spotting is normal before ovulation or before the onset of periods. Brown spotting can indicate dried blood from previous cycles and pink colored spotting can occur when blood is mixed with cervical fluids. Both are normal. Any foul smelling discharge can indicate vaginal infection and antibiotics may be required to reduce the infection.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
