What Causes Vaginal Itching While Having IUD?

I have a vaginal itch that I only seem to get when my period is due. I have an iud so I no longer bleed. Also with the itch i dont have any discharge or foul smell. Im a bit concerned about an std. Should I been concerned and would you recommend an over the counter yeast infection treatment?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Itching can be due to yeast infection. Over the counter anti-fungal creams like Candid B cream for local application will be helpful. If no improvement then a pelvic examination by gynecologist and ultrasound should be done to rule out pelvic inflammation or infection.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Nishad B. N., General & Family Physician
