Hi there, It does sound like a yeast infection, it is typically very intensely itchy with thick whitish discharge. The swelling can be due to the infection affecting the outer areas as well instead of just inside the vagina. Just to be cautious, make sure you double check that you have not left a tampon inside (it happens more often than you think). After that, I would recommend an antifungal vaginal pessary like clotrimazole or tioconazole to insert into your vagina at night, so that it stays in for as many hours as possible. In addition to that, use some cream for the swollen outer areas to help reduce the itching, also with the same ingredients, clotrimazole being the one more commonly available. It should improve quite quickly within a couple of days, if the itching persists you might need to get help with your local doctor s to have a vaginal swab done. It could be something like bacterial vaginosis, or chlamydia/gonorrhea if you have had unprotected intercourse. However, these usually do not cause such an intense itch like yeast does.
