What Causes Vaginal Burning In An Elderly Woman?

My 86 year old mother-in-law just moved to Texas from Florida and is living with us. She started vaginal bleeding today, not a lot but enough to color the toilet water and stain a pad. Is this something we should have treated immediately....as in take her to ER?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.

I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Any post menopausal woman with vaginal bleeding should be considered as top health priority to get checked by nearby obstetrician-gynecologist.

I strongly recommend her per vaginal examination and Pap smear for final diagnosis and further management at it's best.

Wish her fine health.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
