What Causes Vaginal Bleeding Post Mirena Removal?

I have had a Mirena for 5 yrs. It was time to change it. I had a FSH level drawn. It was 89.6. I decided to remove the Mirena due to my age of 49, inactive sexually, & the blood work result. Mind you the only reason I got the Mirena the first time was very heavy bleeding in which I flushed out the first one. The second one stayed in place. 3 days after having the Mirena removed I started bleeding...ugh!! So does the Mirena elevate the FSH levels ?? I was so bummed that I started bleeding again.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
Thanks for the query. I understand it.
Minera being a long acting hormone embedded IUD.. it's removal has caused withdrawal of the hormone & so the bleeding. Minera in fact prevents ovulation & the hormone concerned with it ( FSH)
Bleeding should stop within 5-7 days .. if not consult your gynecologist to exclude other possibilities of excessive bleeding.
thanks.
