What Causes Vaginal Bleeding After Receiving A Gonapeptyl Depot Shot?

Hi, I had a laparoscopy on February 10th and I was told to start Gonapeptyl Depot 3.75 for my endometriosis. So I started i had my first shot on February 21, and today March 15 I’ve had some bleeding what it seems to be my period. Is it normal? Shouldn’t my periods stop?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Gonapeptyl depot can cause bleeding as side effects along with decreased libido, vaginal dryness, sweating, headaches, and mood changes. Usually, it wanes after some time or after second depot injection. However no need to worry about this. The symptoms usually disappear after 6-9 months of discontinuation. If you still feel uncomfortable with the side effects. Please consult a gynecologist who has started depot injection.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Hiren Hirpara
