What Causes Unusual Taste In The Mouth And Numbness In The Upper Lips?

Hi I'm a 50 year old male,Approx 1 week ago I had a metallic taste in my mouth when eating and after .This change to like a sour taste, it appears worst with sweet foods. Normal taste has returned approx 80% of the time. My upper left lip has been numb for the last 14 hours or so, also if I smile the left top lip doesn't go as high as it did.I have no oral condition that I'm aware of And no visable sores in my mouth Are you able to advise what this may be

Thanks for the query..

As per your complain unusual taste in mouth along with numbness of upper lip can be probably due to causes like Sinus infection or Sinusitis while it can also be due to causes like oral or dental infection or dental abscess, hypothyroidism, diabetes etc can be a cause..
I would therefore suggest you to consult an Oral Physician and get evaluated and a thorough clinical evaluation and investigation like oral swab culture and blood tests can help in diagnosis and treatment can be done accordingly..
As of now you should start chewing flavoured sugarfree chewing gums and along with it you can also do warm saline gargles..
Do alternate warm and cool compresses over the lips..
Take Vitamin B complex supplements..
