What Causes Unusual Olfactory Cravings?
hi my name is lisa.i am middle aged.most of the sights I have visited talk about smell cravings while pregnant.and I am not.i crave smells like new tires,gas,tar/petrol,most anything rubber based.but I never feel like I need or want to consume these. before I was diagnosed with a thyroid disorder I never had this as bad.i always liked the smell of these things but never literally craved them and searched for them to keep handy to smell when needed.can you give me some feedback on this please.?

I understand that can be bothersome. Olfactory cravings can also be due to stress, depression, etc. apart from pregnancy. Sometimes, certain smells can bring back memories leading to cravings later in life.
There may not be much to worry about it usually unless you have cravings to taste or eat it which should be absolutely avoided, as you may know. To understand the situation better, would you mind answering me a few questions, that are listed below?
1. Have you been stressed, depressed, lately?
2. Are you on any medications currently?
3. May I ask if you have been on any type of recreational drug, excess intake of alcohol?
