Hi I am a 47 year old woman who has been suffering with a very painful sore throat so painful in fact it is difficult to swallow my own saliva. I went the the dr and the rapid strep test came back negative but she felt there was a good chance it was strep so she put me on augmentin, That was Monday and today is Wednesday and I feel no better. My tongue feels huge and I cringe every time I swallow. I cannot eat or drink much of anything. This is day 5 of the sickness and day 3 on the antibiotics. Should I go back to the doctor? What is wrong with me?
hi in all probability it would be a viral pharyngitis which would settle down in a week.. consider visiting your doc if symptoms... aggravate or if it persists after 1 week..
