What Causes Unilateral Pain In The Buttock Radiating To The Thigh And Leg?
I am having burning pain from my right mid buttocks radiating to the side of my right thigh down to my leg leg. It hurt when I stand for long time or sit for long time. I have noticed too that my lower back hurts when standing for long time. The pain wakes me up during the night and i can only lie down on my right side. I have this problem off and on now for years. At present time, I am suffering from this pain now for two weeks. Any advised?
This is sciatica nerve pain. Pain in the distribution of sciatic nerve is caused by sciaitve nerve damage. There are many causes of peripheral nerve damage such as diabetes, chronic renal failure, leprosy, vertebral compression, vasculitis, shingles and hypothyroidism etc. I think the cause of your sciatic nerve pain is vertebral in origin. There is a role of methylcobalamine in treatment of peripheral nerve damage caused by metabolic disorders. Advice 1. Take proper rest 2. Tablet methylcobalamin 500 mcg once daily per oral for 3 months 3. Gabapentin 300 mg (Capsule Neuronti 300 mg) thrice daily per oral for one month 4. Investigation – X – ray back. If you can afford the cost of MRI of back then get done MRI of back so that cause can be identified Thanks
