What Causes Twitching Sensation On The Right Eyelid?

Hi, My right eyelid has been twitching for quite awhile. It doesn t matter what I am doing, and I am not under any stress. I didn t realize it was twitching till a friend mentioned it, and I realized I am always trying to hold the lid absentmindedly. I have very dry eye. Thank you.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Since you have dry eye, it is causing twitching; wash the eyes & restore moisture to feel better. Other causes can be stress, anxiety, nutritive problems, allergies, eye strain and fatigue. Avoid taking caffeine & alcohol.

However, get your eye tests done for it can be due to serious neurological causes like blepharospam or hemifascial spasm.

Hope I have answered your query.
Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Nupur K, General & Family Physician
