What Causes Trouble While Taking Deep Breath With Copd?

I had a pluric effusion of my left lung almost 10 years ago caused by a near drowning and likely ingestion of some foreign body that lodged in my lung at the time of the drowning incident. Since then I have had trouble with deep breathing and have been diagnosed with COPD. Whenever I fly I seem to get a lung infection shortly thereafter which is the case now. I also have had an area on my right chest that feels tight and often results in off an on pain when I breath. Is this pleurisy? To complicate things I have Diabetes which causes me nuropothy problems as well.

Pulmonologist 's  Response
Hello dear, thanks for your question on HCM.
I can understand your situation and problem.
Yes, this can be pleurisy ( inflammation of pleura ).
Since you are having COPD ( chronic obstructive pulmonary disease ), lung infection is very common due to poor lung defence.
You are also having diabetes, which makes you even more prone to infection.
So possibility of pleurisy due to lung infection is high.
So better to consult pulmonologist and get done
1. Clinical examination of respiratory system.
2. Chest x ray.
You may need antibiotic and inhaled bronchodilators.
