Hi,

Welcome to HCM.

Bacterial vaginosis is caused by gram negative bacteria like gardnerella and bacteroides. It is also caused by trichomonas which is a genital flagellate.

Vaginosis presents with foul smelling discharge and itching but usually there is no redness.

It is sexually transmitted and hence both the partners have to be treated simultaneously.

I suggest you and your boyfriend get a prescription for appropriate antibiotics and avoid unprotected sex.

Thanks.
