What Causes Tremors During Sleep?

Hi, I think i ve been having some issues with my sleeping. I will be going about to dream then I wake up with a shake. Which is weird is that I can feel WHEN the shakes coming. I don t really think I have seizures but, is this normal. It might sound crazy but it feels like somebody s picking me up and dropping me on my bed.

Hi,
Thanks for writing to us,

What you are describing is a sleep phenomenon known as hypnogogic jerks or myoclonus. These can be seen in varying frequency in normal people. At times the frequency may increase due to factors such as anxiety, stress, drug intake etc. These may also be seen in certain disease states like sleep disorders or brain lesions.

If there are no other accompanying symptoms, these jerks are usually a normal phenomenon. If there are any other symptoms then you may visit your doctor.

Hope your query is answered.
