General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

The presence of air pockets palpable underneath the skin and subcutaneous tissue is only possible in one clinical condition which is surgical emphysema a dial surgical emergency. Usually it follows a heavy bacterial infection with staph aureus or other infections, uncontrolled diabetes or other immune compromised states.

However, if there is subjective feeling of air pockets in a fibromyalgia patient, the issue has to be evaluated by the clinician for expert guidelines as it may not be actual air pockets what is perceived as subjective phenomenon.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
