What Causes Tough And Dry Cough Especially After Eating?
I ve had a very tough and dry cough for 6 weeks. It is especially bad after eating anything, but especially grains like wheat and corn. Tortilla chips have me coughing for an hour. I ate a cheerio and coughed for two. I m 53, WM, no allergies, overweight.
Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of tough and dry cough especially after eating which is due to very sensitive epiglottis which gets irritated very easily after coming in contact with food particles and it could be due to respiratory tract infection leading to bronchitis.
Need not to panic about it. I would suggest you to
- Avoid use of cold liquid substances.
- Take steam inhalation. Avoid oily food.
- Take antibiotic Levofloxacin for 5 days. Take anti histamine Sinarest along with this.
- Take diet rich in multivitamins.
- You should gargle daily.
- Use mist humidifier in room.
You should visit pulmonologist once and get X-ray chest done. You should get colonoscopy done as well. You should start medication after proper diagnosis.
Hope your concern has been resolved.
Get Well Soon.
Best Wishes, Dr. Harry Maheshwari
