What Causes Tooth Pain And Swelling Of Lips In Children?
my 5 year old daughter woke up this mornig saying that her front top teeth hurt. she chiped her tooth about 3 years ago. thats the tooth that she says hurts. later in the afternoon her upper lip swealed up pretty bad. now its still swollen and she has fever. should i call a docter or a dentist and why is this happening. she never had any problems with her teeth befor.
Thanks for your query .When broken tooth left untreated it catches infection and start paining. As far as swollen lip is concern the reason behind it is that it is injured by sharp edges of tooth and becomes swollen.
Pain in the broken tooth should not be ignored .You should visit dentist as soon as possible .Till the stick paraffin wax or gum on chipped part of tooth so that i can not injured other parts of oral cavity, rinse her mouth with with warm saline water and give her regular painkiller you already using for her.
Wash her lip with hydrogen peroxide mix with equal part of water and give it cold compresses.
Doctor will properly examine the tooth and treat it accordingly .Doctor may perform root canal if infection is there and give a crown.
Hope your concern has been resolved. Get Well Soon. Best Wishes, Dr. Harry Maheshwari
