What Causes Tiredness While Taking Augpen?

My father just got diagnosed for pancreatic cancer. Currently he is going through chemotherapy. HE gets fever once every 2-3 days. Which doctors are saying is due to bacterial infection. So doctors are giving him antibiotics. Recently doctor changed his antibiotic to Augpen (2 days ago) and today he is all dull (not active as he was 2 days back). Is this a side effect of this antibiotic?

Hi,

Augpen contains both amoxicillin and clavulanic acid which is a penicillin type of antibiotic that helps your body fight infections caused by bacteria. It is used to treat infections of the lungs like pneumonia, ear, nasal sinus, urinary tract, skin and soft tissue etc. Side effects of Augpen are nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, black or tarry stools, muscle pain, joint pain, sleepiness, extreme fatigue, tiredness, weakness, skin yellowing, easily bruising or bleeding, alteration of taste, allergic reactions etc. Most of the side effects usually go away after stopping this medication. If the side effects persist or bother you, then consult your doctor immediately.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
