Hi,I am Dr. Amitkumar Sharma (Internal Medicine Specialist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Tiredness And Fatigue Post Intake Of 5mg Of Norvasc?
My doctor just increased my Norvasc 2.5 mg dosage to 5 mg. I have been taking 5 mg for 7 days now. I still had several tablets of the 2.5 so he instructed me to take two of them. I felt tired and fatigued the past several mornings but I haven t been doing anything strenuous or tiring. Could my fatigue be a side effect of the dosage change? I was going to either change to taking the 2-2.5 mg in the morning or take 1 at night and 1 in the morning to see if that helps, but that can only happen for so long as my doctor called in my new scrip for the 5mg tab.
Norvasc belongs to a class of anti-Hypertension drugs called Calcium Channel antagonists. The level of Calcium inside in relation to, that outside a cell, i.e. across the cell wall, decides how a series of steps inside the cell are started. This in turn results in contraction of ,or relaxation of cells. If these are muscle cells on the blood vessel wall in particular, they decide the level of Blood pressure. As these muscle cell relaxation are not specific to Blood vessel wall cells, but all muscle cells, one may feel tired as a side effect.Splitting the dose to 2.5 mg twice a day may help & you could discus this with your Doctor.
