What Causes Tiny Bumps On Labia And Vulva After Using Nair Hair Removal Cream?

I used Nair on the top part of my pubic area, trying to not get it on the lips or other parts of my vulva. A day later I got what I thought was ingrown hairs on my vulva so I tried popping them, they became extremely irritated and painful.. Three more days later and I have little bumps all over my labia and vulva. Could this be caused by the Nair? Do chemical burns spread? What s happening to me!?

Hi,

Cosmetic hair removers like Nair hair removal cream can burn the hair, so it can also burn the skin, if you have sensitive skin. Nair hair removal cream contains calcium hydroxide and potassium hydroxide as its active ingredients. These chemicals are acidic in nature that may burn the hair as well as the surrounding skins. They not only cause burns, but also may cause blisters, itchy rashes, stinging or skin peeling.

In such type of cases, mild steroids like hydrocortisone cream may help to reduce inflammation associated with chemical burn and itching or irritation. Antibiotics can be used for preventing infections. Antihistamines also can be used to subside itching. You can consult your doctor for further assessment and treatment purposes.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Hello,

Cosmetics can lead to allergy if not tested before. Any new cosmetic should be tested by applying of forearm for couple of minutes to observe any skin reaction in form of redness, bumps or irritation. I suggest you to consult your gynecologist for clinical assessment and prescription of anti-allergic if the reaction is due to cosmetic.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
