What Causes Tinnitus And Itching In The Ears?

Hi, A few months ago, I developed a wind like sensation in my left ear, I also started to itch and poke at at it, now it I have a persistent earache. Prior to this I had started running everyday with my earphones....earphones that other family members could have used :( Could my eardrum be perforated? Or infected? But there is no oozing fluid. I am fed up with this now. Please advise. Many thanks!

Hi Dear ,


As per your query you have tinnitus and itching in the ears . Well there can be many reaons for symptoms you mention in query , but in your case the probably reasons for symptoms are ear infection , wax build up and allergic reaction . I would suggest you to stop using those earphones or clear then with betadine and consult ENT specialist for proper examination . Doctor may order test like blood test for allergy and examination with otoscope . Doctor may also order hearing test . Doctor may prescribe antibiotics ( amoxicillin or penicillin ) , anti allergic or corticosteroid ear drops along with sedatives and supplements like ginkgo biloba . For now apply warm dry compresses to external eat and keep your ear dry .
