What Causes Tingling Sensation On The Lips After A Dental Procedure?

Ever sense a dentist appointment on 7/25/16 (15 days now), my mouth has been crooked. It s slanted down on the right side. I can control speech and eating. The rest of my face doesn t seem to be effected. I m not experiencing any pain that doesn t seem to be associated with the temporary crown I have. My lips feel a little tingly and the inside of my cheek is a little numb. The cheek looks a little swollen and I ve noticed an odd line on the inside of the cheek. Kind of like a puffed out vein. I went back to the dentist a few days after the appointment, he said my mouth would be back to normal in a couple of days. That was 12 days ago. Should I be concerned?

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of tingling sensation on the lips after a dental procedure which could be due to injury to nerve supplying lip area and it is due to massive instrumentation as well.

I would suggest you to consult oral physician once for perfect diagnosis and to find out exact cause. Doctor may perform physical examination and start treatment accordingly. For now give gentle massage to your lips with olive oil. Apply antiseptic lotion as well locally. Do mild lip stretching exercises as it will take around 1 months for symptoms to recover.

Hope your concern has been resolved.

Get Well Soon.

Best Wishes,
