What Causes Tingling Sensation In The Joints?

I woke up at 3 AM with a substantial number of pin-prick type pains in a significant number of my joints -- shoulders, knees, hips, ankles, etc. I got up and took a couple of aspirins (I take an aspirin a day for heart control) and after about 20-30 minutes the pains went away. I am 79; had a heart attack 16 years ago and have been under the occasional care of a cardiologist since without significant heart issues. My sister (80) has been diagnosed some years ago with Parkinson s disease; she is still fuctioning very well. I know of no other family members who have any such problems.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

It looks like you are suffering from some type of stress that is leading you to symptoms of skin paresthesia. You ought to get examined to screen out any developing neurological problem. You will have to go through some tests for your nerves. This is a type of neuropathic pain that you are experiencing, it can be due to deficiency of Vitamin B12 & folic acid, however you need some more medications.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Nupur K.
