Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Tingling Sensation In The Fingers And Knees?
I am a chiropractor who just saw a patient who complained of tingling that started at the tips of both his fingers and toes and is centralizing, but is still distal to both the knees and elbows. He feels it equally on the dorsal surfaces of both lower arms and lower legs (much less on the ventral surfaces of both). He also states he has occasional tingling on his face and generalized fatigue. Pinwheel examination was unremarkable. I sent him to his PCP for further evaluation but do not have faith in that PCP. MS, DM, and CIDP have come to mind. What do you think?
Most common causes of Glove and stocking parasthesia are Diabetes mellitus, alcoholism and thiamine deficiency, Vitamin B12 deficiency, Hypothyroidism ,folate deficiency and uremia. Blood investigations looking for the above mentioned conditions need to be done at this point. Nerve conduction studies to rule out demylinating disorders are also warranted.
I recommend to follow up with Primary care Provider/ Neurologist for further management.
Hope I was able to answer your question Please address any more concerns Regards, Dr.Lekshmi
