What Causes Tingling Sensation In The Arm After Thyroid Removal?

Had thyroid removed in February. Found thyroid cancer. Did radiation therapy in April. Last few weeks I have had tingling in hands and arms, lip number and tingling, heart sometimes beats fast or seems to skip a beat, lightheadedness. Could this be low calcium?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

It is quite common after thyroid surgery and it could be due to nerve irritation. If symptoms persist, you have to check your blood calcium level as low blood calcium can also lead to similar symptoms.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
