What Causes Tingling In Urethra With Spotting While Urination?

i am having a tingling sensation in my urethra and am also spotting blood when i urinate. What could be the problem. I had my periods only last week, with the 5th day being day before yesterday. I have been having the tingling sensation for over 10 days now, with blood spotting since yesterday night

Hello and welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

These symptoms are suggestive of uroinfection and this is common in your age and usually is manifested with pain during urination, fever and changes in urination frequency. Also, blood traces may be present in urine which can have odour or colour change. Other common cause are urinary stones. Diagnosis is established by doing urine analysis and urinoculture and after this antibiotic treatment may be started if necessary. If there is negative urine analysis then you should do ultrasound of kidneys to check for stones. You should drink plenty of fluids and take raspberry tea or juice to promote urination.
