What Causes Tingling At Back Of Head After An Injury?

Hi, my wife was at work earlier today. She works in retail and while getting up from the floor she hit her forehead on a shelf. Her forehead does not hurt though, it is the back of her head. She also describes a slight tingling feeling in the back of her head like when your eyebrow twitches quickly.

Hello !
I read your question and understand your concern.
I think that there is nothing to worry about. These are common symptoms following a head concussion . The headache is often non localizing, away of point of the trauma. It is caused by contractions of the head muscles.
When there is severe concussion the patients may have the so called "countre coup" concussion, mainly seen in boxer. This lesion is in the opposite part of the brain from a trauma point and it is caused by the crash of the moving brain in the cranial bones, during the trauma. Our brain is surrounded by cerebrospinal fluid , which protects it and amortizes the traumas . So it is not always a matter of the point of trauma.
I think she will get better spontaneously. Acetaminophen would be helpful for the pain.
If the situation aggravates, and she feels numbness in her limbs or any other symptom, I would recommend to consult with a neurologist and have a brain CT scan.
Hope to have been helpful!
Greetings, Dr. Abaz Quka
