What Causes Tingling And Muscle Knotting After Frequent Cervical Infusions?
I m 67 years old and have had 6 cervical fusions and 4 back operations. The last cervical fusion was in Dec 2012. I had lost total use of my right hand and arm. Shortly after the surgery I regained all use and strength and had no problems until about 2 weeks ago. I started having a little tingling in my right arm, muscles started knotting up around my right shoulder and I can t move my fingers on my right hand as well as before. My question is instead of going back to see a surgeon right now, would it be better for me to get an epidural injection in my neck to reduce swelling? I have had several before the last surgery and they seem to work fine and lasted a long time until a fusion cracked causing the surgery. My email address is: YYYY@YYYY Thank You for your time.

What Causes Tingling And Muscle Knotting After Frequent Cervical Infusions?
Hello, * The tingling and muscle knot indicate possible nerve compression underlying after frequent cervical fusion surgeries. There are various options for the management of the same as - heating pad application over cervical region - assisted physiotherapy upper limb including arm, forearm and wrist joints - judicious use of analgesic and anti inflammatory medicines - ultrasonic wave therapy at cervical region - epidural analgesia via injections with interventional pain specialist * Definite management requires an MRI of the cervical spine and further therapy in accordance to the results of that. Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further. Take care Regards, Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel
