What Causes Tightness In Chest In An Active Child?

my son age 11 is experiencing chest tightness when exercising. He reports his left arm hurting in the mornings. He also reports pain/tightness when laying flat on his back. He recently has been exercising more than he is used to. He reports it being worse when he is jumping on tramp or doing jumping jacks. I am a nurse so I was thinking exercise enduced asthma but now I am worried it could be cardiac?

I have gone through your query and being your physician i completely understand your health concerns.
For how long he is suffering from it? Any other associated problem? like asthma or allergy? Any history of TB in past or exposure to TB? is he running fever?
Since asthma has got bimodal presentation it is likely that his symptoms are due to asthma but again it need to examined before any conclusion.
there is one condition of heart called HOCM which i think need to be excluded in this scenario...
you should meet PEDIATRICIAN so that he can be examined and investigated properly..
we are over diagnosing things right here, so meet your doctor so that exact pathology is identified.
Meanwhile stay calm and try to avoid vigorous physical activity for time being.
