What Causes Tightness In Chest After Inhaling Bleach And Toilet Cleaner Fumes?

Hi, I was scrubbing my bathroom & have inhaled bleach & harpic power plus fumes. I am concerned because I couldn t catch a breath & now my chest feels tight if I take a deep breath. Is it okay to wait until the morning to see my g.p.? It is almost midnight now. Thankyou

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Inhaling fumes leads to a sensitivity reaction in the lungs. The airways would tighten and make it hard to inhale. If severe it can decrease blood oxygen level and the result is dizziness or loss of consciousness. I recommend you to visit the ER.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Ahmad Nazzal, General & Family Physician
