What Causes Tight Sensation In The Chest?

Hi. My husband went to the doctor with symptoms he had been having for three days including minimal tightness in his chest (as if after having done a few push ups) and feeling like he had been drinking way too much caffeine (even though he had not changed his intake). He had also been having tingling in his left hand, and restless leg syndrome, but the hand and leg symptoms had been going on longer than three days. The doctor did an EKG and then sent him on to the ER. They did an additional EKG at the ER, and a stress test. Numerous additional tests resulted in a dye test that showed no blockage of his arteries. The symptoms of feeling over-caffeinated continue even though he is reducing his caffeine take, so now he s not sure what to do. Any suggestions on what might be going on?

Hi,

This can be due to problems in the heart. As you say that there is a feeling of tightness with tingling in the left hand, these signs and symptoms are typical of angina pectoris.

At the same you are consuming caffeine which increases blood pressure, therefore, can aggravate it further. The restless leg can also be attributed to the use of caffeine. Though it can't be all related to caffeine still it can aggravate it. I advise you take him to a cardiologist and get examined properly so that it can be addressed properly.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
