What Causes Tickling Sensation In The Back Of Throat?

I can't stop coughing and I don't know why? I get a tickling feeling in the back of my throat that causes uncontrollable coughing for a couple minutes... I get it the most in the morning, after I eat(sometimes) I've tried drinking water to calm it down and it doesn't work.... what is it that I'm feeling? Is it something serious

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
Sore throat or severe coughing is mainly due to upper respiratory infection like pharyngitis, laryngitis, laryngotracheitis or tracheitis etc which are mostly due to bacterial infection
(streptococcus, staphylococcus etc) or viral infection(adenovirus, rhinovirus).
The treatment is mainly antibiotics (macrolides, cephalosporins or quinolones) with analgesics, decongestants, antiallergic and antipyretics etc for minimum 5 to 7 days.
Vaccination is good to prevent from viral infections.
Consult ENT surgeon for further advise.
Take care.
