What Causes Throbbing Sensation Back Of Head While Taking Metoprolol For Tinnitus?

Husband is having constant buzzing and ringing in his ears. Had surgery on his ear thinking this might help, but to no avail. Having almost all side effects from taking Metoprolol. Throbbing in back of his head. Dizziness. Should he discontinue taking his Metoprolol?

Hi Dear ,

As per your query you have throbbing sensation back of head while taking Metoprolol for tinnitus along with dizziness . Well the symptoms you mention in query can occur due to many reasons but in your case the dizziness ix probably occurring due to metoprolol as its side effects . I would suggest you to consult your doctor , who may alter the dose or prescribe substitute . There can be many reasons for throbbing sensation back of head like cervicogenic Headache , migraine , sinus Headaches and occipital Neuralgia . This can also occur due to ear infection . I would suggest you to consult neurologist for this . Doctor may order MRI or CT scan to confirm the diagnosis and treat it accordingly . For now take proper rest and take ibuprofen or acetaminophen for pain and discomfort .
