What Causes Throbbing Pain Above The Heel Of The Right Leg?

Hi I have suddenly developed throbbing pain on my right foot above my heel. (Achillies tendon). It has swollen over a period of time. (2-3)hrs. I have experienc ed gout before. Is this what I could have again? I also have this pain in my right wrist.

Hi,

Yes, this looks very like Gout. In fact sudden onset of swelling and pain in a joint , which is unprovoked, always raises possibility of Gout. and if someone has already such episodes first, then it makes the diagnosis of Gout very likely.

You should talk to your doctor, to get the uric acid level done, and also to see your joint in details to rule out another possibility.

Management of gout is mostly to relieve the pain with painkillers and if needed to recommend drugs for prevention if recurrent is more then twice a year.
