What Causes Throat Pain Along With Swollen Tonsils?

I have stringy white stuff on my swollen tonsils. I have had this throat pain for about three and a half days. The first and second day I had a fever, but the third day, today, my fever is gone. However, the pain in my throat is still here and maybe gotten worse because I have a cough, allergies acting up, hard to talk, and hard to breathe.

Hi
Thanks for posting on HCM
Throat pain/swollen tonsils is most like caused by tonsilitis(inflammation of the tonsils). It may be causes by respiratory viral infection infections and may require only symptomatic treatment. However, bacteria infection or superinfection are possible and will require antibiotics.Bacteria thoat infections may be severe if neglected.I will suggest you get the throat examined by an ENT specialist and a throat swap taken for examination and culture. In the meantime, you may try the following:
-Take an anti-inflammatory pain drug like tylenol
-A local pain/antiinflammatory/anesthetic aerosol like antiginovag may help in inflammation and pain
-Gargle with warm salt water many times per day
-An anti-histamine like benadryl
-Your ENT may place you on an amoxicillin-clavulanic acid while waiting for throat swap exam/culture as respiratory/throat bacteria infections respond well on this group of antibiotics.
Hope this will help
Wish you a speedy recovery
