What Causes Throat Irritation And Cough?

I have had an irritating tickle in my throat cough for a few months. The Ent scoped my throat and said it was mainly a severe post nasal drip and allergey. He prescribed singular and Flonase which I have been taking for about 2 weeks and it has improved somewhat but not gone. Now I have lost my appeitie, feel tired and weak and it seems have lost about 10 pounds since my last drs visit in June. My dr. wants me to see a gastro guy and says sometimes acid reflux could cause this. What do you think?

There I have read through your questions and understand your concern. If you have not been relieved by Flonase then is a chance that it may be due to acid reflux. Continuous acid reflux may lead to throat irritation and lead to cough. It may also explain your weight loss. I would advise you to consult a gastroenterologist for proper examination. He may advise you an endoscopy. Meanwhile, you can take a proton pump inhibitor like Omeprazole on empty stomach for a few days. Avoid spicy and oily foods. Don't eat anything two hours before going to sleep. Raise the head end of your bed while sleeping.
