What Causes The Throat To Close And Have Chocking Sensation?

My throat closed and started choking this afternoon. It has happened five or six times and it scared the hell out of me. What would cause the esophagus to close and create a choking sensation. I am afraid that one day I will not be able to regain my breathe.

Internal Medicine Specialist 's  Response
Hello,

Choking may be due to:
1. Acid reflux
2. Acute asthma
3. Foreign body or food particles aspiration
4. Nerve palsy etc.
Until examination is done it is difficult to say what it is. Use tablet pantaprazole before breakfast for one week. Please consult with your physician / ENT specialist he will examine and treat you accordingly.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
