What Causes The Presence Of Blood In Semen?

I had intercourse with my old partner last night for the first time in almost 4 yrs ( we were together for 9 yrs prior to that)....we did not use a condom as we are both single and have both been tested and clean. He ejaculated inside of me, and the fluid that leaked onto the sheet was blood tinged. I am 49 , he is 50. I have had a partial hysterectomy. I am not sure where the blood came from. Any thoughts????

Hello ma'am and welcome.

If this has been your first sexual encounter in 4 years, then the blood could be from micro trauma that is caused from expansion or dilation of the vaginal muscles which were otherwise in a relaxed state for over 4 years now (which is a long amount of time).

If at all this was not the case and you have had other sexual encounters over this period of time then the cause could have to do with inadequate lubrication, again should not be a cause for concern.

Please visit a doctor for further clarifications or you can write back to me using our premium service for a more elaborate discussion. Hope this helps.

Best wishes.
